Zoning Code Rewrite

Citizen and association reactions - These materials include write-ups and letters on the zoning code rewrite - a laudable excercise but ....  This material is easier to digest than the actual drafts produced by the Planning staff, which is necessarily more complex.  A “layman” might want to start here.

Planning Board documents This section provides links to the documents being developed by the Planning staff.  The documents themselves are rather large Adobe Acrobat files (think megabytes) but the document viewer tool provided by the staff makes it easy to skip around within the draft(s).

County Council and Committee materials The committee most concerned with land use and zoning issues is the Planning, Housing, and Economic Development Committee – known as PHED for obvious reasons.  PHED and other Council committees rely heavily on staff to prepare what’s known as packets. These packets contain a staff memorandum which impartially describes the topic, presents issues, suggests changes, and offers recommendations for action.  These memos are well worth reading.  The packet might also include the County Executive’s recommendations, the full text of the Planning Board amendments, plus any additional materials deemed appropriate.  Clicking here will get you to those staff memorandums in the County website plus any additional materials deemed appropriate.
